Before I deep dive into peri menopause and menopause next week and hrt as a way of managing symptoms, I just wanted to quickly jump on and preface it all with the FACT π§ that HRT is only part of the puzzle and will only go so far to helping you navigate your way in to clear, calm waters.
Diet, lifestyle and the choices you make along the way will always play a huge role in your health. For example did you know that during the transition you will crave sugar, carbs and ALCOHOL - that's right it's not that you are becoming an alcoholic as you may have first thought π€£- it is a proven fact that we crave it during this time - BUT the temporary fix is outweighed by the fact that we no longer metabolise so well anymore so it hangs on the hips. It plays havoc with our already disrupted weirdo sleeping patterns and generally will just make you feel worse π€’
I think it is great to know that these cravings are natural - but doesn't mean they should satisfied. You are the boss of you !
NOW more than ever during this reverse adolescence we need to be either be creating some new healthy habits - or upping our game to another level.
The way I see it there is no point in robbing Peterl to pay Paul! I don't see the point of filling up your hormone bucket but having a gaping hole down the bottom, where your food choices, and lifestyle let you down.
You have to come at this from a many pronged approach. And most certainly an improved diet will go along way in supporting you through this phase.

Good morning π Grinning from ear to ear today as we have a potential date for the end of lockdown π€©π It has been a tough few months, taking it's toll on all of us both physically and mentally π€§ BUT we can now see the light at the end of this tunnel and it feels incredible π We will emerge from lockdown just in time for daylight savings and warmer weather - so my question to you right now is are you ready to hit summer with vim and vigour in your step. OR has lockdown meant extra kilos, laziness and bad eating habits π€ Maybe right...and hey there is no judgement at all from me - we do what we have to do to get through tough times. Good morning ! π I hope everyone is surviving lockdown as best as you can πOne thing that has definitely been helping me π is having a focus π§ For me, I have been directing my attention to improving and sustaining good health ππ I am currently on day 12 of a 30 day healthy living program π₯¦β€οΈ It is not a deprivation or starvation - the purpose of the program is to address gut issues, feeding your gut the right foods and supplements to bring about better health π There has been a lot more attention of late πon the role of good gut health and how gut health determines our overall state of well being (90% of our immunity is based on the state of our gut health) ππ»βοΈποΈβοΈπβοΈπ§βοΈ Even though I ate pretty well I definitely was not consuming enough of what I needed to achieve good gut health - you need about 10 cups of veg a day π₯¦π₯π₯how is that even possible? The only way for most of us to get enough veg + protein is to use supplements in combination with our diet. This 30 day program that I am currently undertaking enables me to top up my vitamins and minerals which would otherwise be lacking in my general diet. π I also eliminate certain foods which give my body the best chance at correcting itself. π BUT the best thing about having this to focus on right now - is that it gives me purpose for the day, for the week, for the month, for the months aheadπͺ I believe that we ALL need purpose, a reason to get up, to stay motivated - so this 30 days to healthy living has been such a blessing π I am constantly thinking of new dinner recipes, busy making green smoothies π - staying active. I ABSOLUTELY WAS NOT βΉοΈ I probably, maybe was at dinner but you need about 1 gram per kilo of body weight.
It is also suggested that it is best spread out over the day - and honestly facing protein at breakfast and even lunch for me was not always a palatable idea π€’

Ikigai (ηγη²ζ, "a reason for being") is a Japanese concept referring to having a direction or purpose in life, providing a sense of fulfillment and towards which they the person may take actions, giving them satisfaction and a sense of meaning.
I guess my question to you is "Why do you wake up in the morning". I will admit my ikigai went on a total walkabout not long ago - leaving me feeling pretty ho hum about life π You know why this is not great - because knowing your sense of purpose can add 7 years to your life expectancy.
This concept of knowing your ikigai is shared by all those in the Blue Zones of the world (The Blue Zones - a chat for another day - but these communities have the oldest, healthiest and most well adjusted folk in the world) π§
I have rekindled mine - THANK THE LORD - and my days absolutely fly by because I am living on PURPOSE - again π₯°
